The inauguration ceremony to launch the e local Government Network initiative was held yesterday ( 29th January ) at the Lotus Hall, BMICH with the participation of Minister of Provincial Councils & Local Government Faiszer Musthapha, and Minister of Telecommunications & Digital Infrastructure Harin Fernando as Chief Guests.
Speaking at the event Minister Faiszer Musthapha stated that this was a step towards eliminating corruption and malpractices within Local Authorities, with the system being introduced to 30 Local Authorities island wide. The Minister believes that after the new political authority is elected to office, proper decisions would be taken without giving into bureaucracy.
The Minster went on the commend Hon Harin Fernando and the ICTA for their role in this pivotal project.
