The Ornamental Fish Breeding Centre constructed at Sevanapitiya for the ornamental fish breeders who engage in self-employments in Pollanaruwa District was opened today under the patronage of Hon. State Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government, Roshan Ranasinghe and Hon. State Minister of Ornamental Fish, Inland Fish and Prawns Breeding, Fisheries Harbour Development, Multiday Fisheries Activities and Fish Export, Kanchana Wijesekara

At that occasion, Mr.Roshan Ranasinghe has said to the public.

The Ornamental Fish Breeding center which was opened today is an essential project to the people in this area. A better income could be earned locally as well as internationally through engagement in the ornamental fish industry. In previous year, we have got US$ 22 million from the export of ornamental fish .I believe that an income exceeding that will be able to earn in 2022. Furthermore, I trust that a large amount of that export income will be earned to this country by ornamental fish breeders in Pollanaruwa District.

Specially, I respectfully thank to Hon. Minister, Kanchana Wijesekara who has given this ornamental fish breeding center to the people in Pollanaruwa District as per my request. Through this business, a large number of families are able to reach to a better living condition after building the economy.

Mr.Roshan Ranasinghe further said that this is a favourable solution for the existing Dollar crisis. We can improve this ornamental fish breeding export industry and to achieve a better opportunity in the international market and we will be able to solve the prevailing foreign exchange crisis.
The Member of Parliament Pollanaruwa, Mr. Amarakeerthi Athukorala , Mr. Gagath Samarawickrama in Dimbulagala- Welikanda Division, Opposition Leader, Mr.Gagath Kahagalle, Secretary of Ministry of Fisheries, Jayantha Chandrasoma, Additional Secretary, Ranjith Thalangama, Chairman of Aquatic Development Authority , Jayantha Wijeratne, Director General, Ashoka, Divisional Secretary, Resident Manager, Chief Secretary and Additional District Secretary and the officers who bear the political leadership of the all divisions including Ven. Monks have participated for this event also.
