The official state ceremony to award appointment letters for the recruitment of 1,252 new officers to Grade III of the Management Service Officers' Service was held on July 07th at Temple Trees. The event was presided over by the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, Professor Chandana Abayaratne, with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government, Ruwan Senarath.

Nearly 85,000 candidates sat for the open competitive examination held on October 05, 2025, and its results were released on April 10, 2026. This group was subsequently selected purely on merit, based on the examination scores and interviews conducted on May 22, 23, and 24, 2026.

Although the basic qualification for these recruitments was the Advanced Level (A/L), a large number of graduates also qualified for the posts. All the appointees are youth between the ages of 18 and 29. Among the 1,252 qualified officers, 1,006 were from the Sinhala medium, 217 from the Tamil medium, and 29 from the English medium. These appointments, awarded on that day, are scheduled to take effect from July 15, 2026.

During the event, the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, S. Alokabandara, and the Director General of Combined Services, N.U. Nishan Mendis, also addressed the gathering. A group of special guests, including senior officials of the Ministry, were also present on the occasion.
