A field visit led by Hon. Ruwan Senarath, Deputy Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government was recently made in regard to project proposals relevant to the Hambantota District under the Programme on Improvement of Sanitation Facilities and Development of Infrastructure Facilities for the General Public and Tourists in Urban Areas.

Important places in the Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha, Hambantota Municipal Council, Ambalantota Pradeshiya Sabha, Tissamaharama Pradeshiya Sabha and Sooroyawewa Pradeshiya Sabha were observed during this visit.

More important matters including the following main proposals were discussed during the said observations.

Designing a vehicle park for facilitating parking of vehicles related to the Kudawella beach, Tangalle, as well as commencing a surfing project Construction of a of children’s park, a walking track, a bathing place as well as commencing a surfing project within the Hambantota Municipal Council area 

Newly constructing a vehicle park as well as facilities for common sanitation requirements (including facilities for clean water bathing after enjoying the sea) and providing boats for the water park for the entertainment of local and foreign tourists who visit the water park located in Nonagama area under development of the Ussangoda beach, Ambalantota

Constructing a vehicle park, commencing a boat safari project and setting up sanitation facilities under development of infrastructure facilities in the Kirinda Oruwella beach, Tissamaharama, laying paving blocks to the outer area of the multipurpose building consisting a first floor with a trade complex reserved for businessmen, second floor as the office complex of the Tissamaharama Pradeshiya Sabha, the third floor with an auditorium and expediting works of the second floor, located in the Tissamaharama city.

In addition, the attention of the Hon. Deputy Minister was drawn to the issues, views and proposals of the people of the area, people’s representatives and those who are engaged in the tourism industry.

The secretaries of relevant local authorities including the private secretary of the Hon. Deputy Minister, Mr.P.M.A.Dayananda as well as the Deputy Director, Planning of the Ministry, Mr.D.P.Indaka and Development Officer Mr.Charith Ratnayake, Assistant Commissioner of Local Government, Hambantota and technical officers and newly elected Members of Parliament of the National People’s Power joined the visit.
