Prof. Chandana Abeyratne, the newly appointed Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government, officially assumed duties at the Ministry of Public Administration in Torrington today, November 19, 2024.

Addressing the ministry officials, Minister Abeyratne emphasized that alongside the emergence of a new political culture, there must also be a shift toward a culture dedicated to the country's development.

A distinguished graduate of the University of Kelaniya, Prof. Abeyratne has previously served as a professor in the Department of History at the same university. The event was graced by the presence of the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government, Mr. S. Aloka Bandara, along with numerous senior staff officers.
