A workshop on the way of carrying out functions of the local authorities in which there are no members amidst the current situation prevailing in the country was held on 11.08.2023 under the chairmanship of the State Minister for Provincial Councils and Local Government Mr.Janaka Wakkambura at the Auditorium of Sri Lanka Institute of Local Government.

This three days’ workshop had been organized with an objective of creating a qualitative local government service through providing essential knowledge and discussing the issues faced by Local Government Commissioners, Local Government Assistant Commissioners, Urban Commissioners, Municipal Secretaries and Pradeshiya Sabha Secretaries in their profession.

A large number of subjects including local government finance management, local government law, officer’s role and challenges in discharging the powers, functions and duties of local authority and converting the local authorities into self-generation institutions and project management had been discussed at this workshop.

This workshop had been held over 02 days and the finance had been provided by OTI (One Text Initiative)

The officers including Additional Secretary of Ministry of Provincial Councils and Local Government, Ms. Maheshika Kodippli Arachchi and Executive Director of Sri Lanka Institute of Local Government, Dr. Sooratissa Dissanayake had participated for this event.
